PebbleGo logo

PebbleGo is touted as the "Emergent Reader Research Solution". This informational research database is geared toward younger, emerging readers, giving them access to relevant, current information about research topics in a multimodal literacy environment that supports them at every level. Early readers can easily locate topics, access multimedia content related to the topic, gather information, record information using graphic organizers, and cite their sources. This database allows early and emerging readers a chance to hone their research skills with ease.  

Target Audience: Grades K-3

Content Connections: PebbleGo supports learning in English/ Language Arts, Social Studies,  Health, and Science. 

Access: Username and password information for BCPS staff and students can be found on the BCPS Digital Content Access Page.

    • Educator Resources are available through a link at the bottom of each page on the site. Under the Resources menu, teachers will find a variety of resources including:

      • Lesson Plans and Activities

    • 3. Knowledge Constructor- Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.

Features & Learning Supports

  • Includes four databases:  Animals, Biographies, Earth & Space, and Social Studies.

  • Content includes text articles, audio, images, and video.  

  • Teacher Resources with national standards alignments, lesson plans and reproducibles.

  • Various Print options allow users to print the entire article with images, or just the image in a large scale.

  • Users can hover over a topic tile to hear it read aloud. 

  • Articles are chunked into easy-to-read short passages.  

  • Speaker Icon will play an audio recording of the article text.  

  • Large Photos/ Images are included to visually support the text.  

  • Video snippets are provided to illustrate key concepts.   

  • Definitions can be accessed from within articles. Users click on a red colored word to open up a pop-up window with vocabulary word and definition. 

  • Print gives users various print options:

    • Cite - will print out the citation for the article selected.

    • Article - will print the article as a whole, including all texts from different tabs.

    • Activities - will print out activity pages or graphic organizers that can be used after reading about the chosen topic.
