Best Practices to Facilitate Learning for Students with a Chromebook

If you qualify for a stipend, you may only be paid for participating in either the asynchronous course or one of the synchronous sessions. You cannot be paid for participating in both options.

Asynchronous Course - The Best Practices to Facilitate Learning for Students With a Chromebook asynchronous course is available for high school teachers and instructional staff. This self-paced course is designed to support school-based instructional staff needing training and resources on the basic functionality of operating a Chromebook and how to provide accessible content to students using a Chromebook. Participants must register for the course through the BCPS registration system. For staff who prefer synchronous sessions, several options will be available throughout the spring and summer.

  • Course Dates: July 1 - August 24

Synchronous Sessions - The Best Practices to Facilitate Learning for Students with a Chromebook is a paid, virtual professional learning opportunity using Microsoft Teams for content delivery. The course content will review the basics of Chromebook functionality as well as provide teachers with numerous resources to enhance instruction and highlight best practices when incorporating digital tools into instruction. Participants who qualify for stipend will be paid for 2 hours. The intended audience members are BCPS high school staff teaching students who will be assigned a Chromebook for the 22-23 school year. Although participants may not have physical access to a Chromebook, they will have access to a Chromebook simulator tool when appropriate. Participants do not need a Chromebook in order to learn and participate and must register for the course through the BCPS registration system.

  • Course Dates: July 12, 9-11 a.m.; July 12, 1-3 p.m.; July 27, 9-11 a.m.; July 27, 1-3 p.m.
