Wixie is web-based creation software that is available for BCPS teachers and students in grades K-8. With Wixie students can share their ideas, imagination, and understanding through their writing, their voice, and their art. Students can use paint tools, text options, clip art, and voice recording to develop and share digital media. With its new update, Wixie now works seamlessly in the Chrome browser and also provides additional enhanced functionality such as text-to-speech and real-time collaboration.
Access: Wixie is accessible to BCPS teachers and students in grades K-8 through by going to https://bcps.wixie.com/ or the Microsoft My Apps Portal. Then click on the Sign In with Google button to use your BCPS Google account to sign in.

*Wixie expert, Scott Loomis, is available to provide virtual reviews for any BCPS elementary or middle school teacher interested in learning how to effectively use and implement Wixie. This includes all subject areas as well as strategies for use with to support a variety of student needs. Most sessions last between 15-20 minutes. 🎥 A Beginner's Guide to Wixie - This session is intended to provide an introductory overview of the tools and features perfect for capturing student knowledge and understanding. This includes adding student audio files for a wide range of products including justification/explanation,interviews, and public services announcements as well as for creating primary-aged artifacts with fluency and counting. Coupled with dynamic drawing tools, students' ability to work collaboratively with classmates plus dynamic teacher management tools including auto-save/auto-'drop box' and quick studentaccess for teacher-assigned templates, make Wixie the perfect productivity tool.
🎥 Using Wixie : A More Advanced Guide - This session is intended to provide participants with a detailed look of the recent updates to Wixie and build upon the integration potential of all tools and features. This includes the ability to add video files and teachers' ability to track student usage data -- to name a few. The session will involve a heavy dose of integration ideas and student samples that focus on rigorous assessment. The presentation will be similar to the Beginner's session, but will require some basic understanding of Wixie to be of value.
