Learning How
Getting Started with Microsoft Office & Online
BCPS users have two options for accessing Microsoft products. PC users can access Microsoft tools through the desktop version installed on the device. Chromebook and PC users can access the online version of Microsoft products via Microsoft Online.
Two Versions ... What's the Difference?
Microsoft desktop programs and Microsoft Online programs have a very similar look and feel, and both have similar functionality. The desktop versions of Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and more tend to be more robust with additional features. These products work best with BCPS Windows devices. Microsoft Online programs include the basic functionality of the desktop Microsoft programs, with the addition of easy online sharing and collaboration as well as added accessibility features. These products work best with BCPS Chromebooks.
Microsoft has an extensive online training and support resource center such as the Microsoft Online Quick Start Guides and the Microsoft Education Center to help users get started with using various desktop and online versions of Microsoft products.
