This space is designed to support teachers in facilitating instruction during hybrid learning. All of the resources are intended to provide options that can be modified. Keep in mind that the resources being shared are not the only options for preparing a hybrid classroom; they are meant to be a starting point. Take time to practice and troubleshoot with colleagues to help you choose the best setup.
Preparing a Hybrid Classroom
This presentation explores different scenarios for how to physically prepare a BCPS hybrid classroom - Concurrent,Separate, and Collaborative.
**NOTE: Windows extended desktop mode does not support interactivity when using Interactive Projectors nor when using ActivInspire with ActivBoards. Interactivity in those situations will only work when the display mode is set to Duplicate (see Extend or Duplicate Your Desktop).
Taking Care of Your BCPS Device
Teachers can share this document with students to remind them of best practices for using and taking care of their BCPS devices.
BCPS News Hub, Business Services - March 26, 2021
During the week of March 22, 2021, BCPS consistently utilized a significant amount of its available Internet bandwidth. Analysis of the traffic patterns has shown that, of the 16 gigabits of usage, 14 gigabits are attributed to face-to-face student Google Meet sessions. The infrastructure of BCPS cannot support the practice of in-person students logging into a Google Meet for the entirety of the day. In-person students engaging with virtual students intermittently is possible, for example, when small group instruction occurs or students are collaborating. Teachers should continue to log in to Google Meet and project the Meet for in-person students to see their virtual classmates but should refrain from having in-person students log in to the Meet unless instructionally beneficial.
The Innovation Hub contains best practices for hybrid instruction that describe this practice. This is in alignment with the professional learning provided to teachers for hybrid instruction. In-person student camera use also compounds bandwidth consumption. As more students return, reasonable in-person Google Meet practices must be followed in order to allow for active virtual learning to occur.
