Copyright-friendly Portals
BCPS Digital Content:
Through our subscriptions, teachers and students can freely use videos from BCPS Digital Content with appropriate attribution. These databases include a citation button, making the process of attribution simple.
Some examples of sources to find videos from Digital Content include:
BrainPOP (Elementary & Middle)
BrainPOP Jr. (Elementary)
Locating Copyright-Friendly Videos:
Most videos found using a general search engine like Google or Bing are protected by copyright. Students and teachers can use filtering tools to identify copyright-friendly videos in search results.
Creative Commons-licensed YouTube Videos:
Videos licensed with a "Standard YouTube License" are protected by Copyright. Downloading copyrighted videos from YouTube using a third-party tool and posting the files elsewhere is copyright infringement. See the YouTube Copyright Guide for information about copyrighted content on YouTube.
Teachers can use filtering tools to locate Creative Commons-licensed YouTube videos for student access as shown to the right.
Note: YouTube videos are available for students in grades 6-12 inside BCPS networks and when using BCPS devices at home. Students in grades PreK-5 are not able to access YouTube videos inside BCPS networks.
